The CV Reimagined

CV2.0

This idea allows you to map your thinking across multiple roles/contexts to demonstrate the overlap for the benefit of the recruiting company, as it shows how we think about our roles, rather simply what we think within our roles. Notice how the fourth role (education) relates to the first, showing an holistic perspective on my daughter’s academic and occupational development over time. This is a new CV idea that allows the individual to map their thinking across multiple roles/contexts to demonstrate the overlap for the benefit of the recruiting company, as it shows how we think about our roles, rather simply what we think within our roles. Notice how the fourth role relates to the first, showing a holistic perspective on my academic and occupational development over time. This is why I like this format.

Let's Look at Another Example

Imagine you are entering the Police Service. What is the Thinking Style required to be at Constable level? HOW does this person need to think? They need to make decisions in the moment, respond to angry people and follow procedures. How does their thinking need to grow in order to get to Sergeant (A)? Does a Sergeant need to be more Procedural, for example? More capable of thinking around problems? Does an Inspector need a different way of being once promoted? As they are in charge of more people, what Thinking Style would work best here? How does this relate to their Sergeant role (B)? What made them move to Inspector rank? Does this relate back to their time as a Constable (F)? Once promoted to Chief Inspector, how does their thinking need to change in order to consider organisational change? Organisational growth? Are they responsible for developing their employees? So should they be a higher level thinker than when they were an Inspector (C)? And finally, how does this high level thinking relate to their role as a Constable (D), so they can relate their decisions to those who will be impacted the most - the front line officers?
